A 5 km long saddle dam is necessary to maintain the required water surface elevation and depth at the relatively flat dam site (Fig. 6.4b). The main dam across the river has three sections. The left power house, the central block and the right power house. There are two spillways in the central block, one gated and one ungated. There are four bottom outlets. Table 6.3 depicts the design features.
